How to Prepare for Your 4x4 Adventure

To make the most of your Madeira 4x4 experience, we recommend coming prepared for changing weather, outdoor stops and some walking. Please bring:

  • Water – Stay hydrated throughout the tour, especially during warmer months.
  • Comfortable footwear – Comfortable, secure shoes are recommended for walking and uneven or natural terrain.
  • Sun protection – Bring sunscreen and a hat. Sunglasses are also recommended.
  • Light jacket – Madeira’s mountain weather can change quickly. A light jacket or windbreaker is recommended, particularly during cooler months or at higher elevations.
  • Swimwear & towel – If your itinerary includes a visit to the natural swimming pools or other swimming opportunities, bring swimwear and a towel.
  • Cash or card – Some attractions and optional stops have entrance fees that are not included in the tour price, so please bring a payment method for these expenses.

Not Included in the Tour Price

Please note that the following costs are not included in your tour:

  • Lunch and personal meals
  • Cabo Girão entrance fee
  • Hiking or trail access fees where applicable
  • Rock pool entrance fees
  • Any other optional attraction or activity entrance fees

Our tours are designed to be relaxed and enjoyable, but Madeira’s terrain and weather can vary throughout the day. Being prepared will help you enjoy every stop comfortably and make the most of your experience with Elite Safari Madeira.

Health & Safety

Your safety and comfort are our priority. Please take note of the following guidelines before joining your 4x4 adventure with Elite Safari Madeira:

  • Follow your driver’s instructions at all times. Your driver is responsible for assessing the road, terrain and conditions throughout the tour.
  • Seatbelts must be worn whenever the vehicle is moving.
  • For your safety, please keep arms, hands and other body parts inside the vehicle at all times.
  • Our 4x4 tours involve uneven terrain, winding roads and off-road driving and are not recommended for pregnant guests, guests with severe back or mobility issues, or anyone with a medical condition that could be affected by off-road driving.
  • Child booster seats are available upon request. Please advise us when making your booking so that we can make the necessary arrangements.
  • Weather and road conditions can change quickly in Madeira. For safety reasons, or due to weather, road closures or other unforeseen circumstances, we may need to amend the itinerary or substitute stops without prior notice.
  • If you have any concerns about whether the tour is suitable for you or a member of your group, please speak with us before booking.
